Karel Ludwig

Czech Republic (1919—1977)

Born in Prague, Ludwig moved to Zlín to study business, soon beginning to collaborate with the Bata company magazine as a reportage photographer. In 1940 he met Tmej and Hájek, joined the Amateur Photographers’ Club, and published in magazines including Zdroj, Ahoj, Sobota and Salon. In 1941 he began working with the National Theatre, and in 1943 he established and directed the photography publicity department at Lucernafilm. In 1949 he joined the Association of Czechoslovak Artists.
