Lithuanian born Iziz moved to Paris in 1930 with no money and in search for a job. He started his career in a photography studio and worked mainly on lifestyle and portrait photography. The war forced him to move to Limoges: in this period his pictures captured the emotions and the action of the partisan reality. After WWII he started to collaborate with Paris-Match review and in 1951 he published with his friend Prévert the collection Paris des Rêves.
